Island

Im Mai ging es für meine Freundin und mich ein paar Tage nach Island. Schon beim Verlassen des Flughafens haben wir die erste Bekanntschaft mit den starken Winden gemacht, doch dabei sollte es nicht bleiben. Mit dem Mietwagen ging es zuerst in die Hauptstadt Reykjavik, die typisch für die Skandinavischen Länder sehr aufgeräumt und sauber ist. Selbst im Mai ist es hier kalt und windig, also sollte man sich auf jeden Fall sehr warme Kleidung mitnehmen. Besonders am Hafen muss man aufpassen nicht verweht zu werden. Dafür wird man mit teilweise riesigen Schiffen in der Werft belohnt.

Our 6-day trip to Iceland

In May my girlfriend and I traveled for a few days to Iceland. Right after exiting the airport the strong winds greeted us, but they should get even stronger. With our rental car the first stop was the capital city Reykjavik which is very neat and clean like you would expect from a Scandinavian country. But even in May it’s cold and you should take some warm clothes with you. Especially at the port you should take care not to be blown away, except maybe from the giant ships in the shipyard.

Filmlocation

Am nächsten Tag ging es in Richtung Norden und wir kamen zufällig an einer der Drehorte des Films „Das erstaunliche Leben des Walter Mitty„, den wir beide erst kurz vor unserer Reise wieder angesehen haben. Jeder sollte diesen Film einmal gesehen haben – der ist wirklich sehenswert. In dem Abschnitt des Filmes ist er in einem Café (indem auch die Bilder des Filmes ausgestellt sind) und später steht er an der Laterne im Bild und telefoniert.

Filming location

On the next day we drove north and we stopped by accident at one of the filming locations of the movie „The Secret Life of Walter Mitty„, which we both saw before our trip started. Everyone should see this film once – it’s really worth it. In this part of the movie Walter Mitty is in a café (you can see pictures of the movie hanging there) and later he’s at that light post and makes a telephone call.

Wunderschöne Landschaft

Je weiter wir in den Norden bzw. ins Landesinnere gefahren sind, desto mehr hat sich die Besonderheit von Island bemerkbar gemacht. Direkt neben der Straße erheben sich wunderschöne Berge und Hügel, die immer wieder von Wolken umhüllt werden.

Awesome scenerey

The more we drove to the north, the more the special beauty of Island showed to us. Right next to the street you can see enourmus and magnificent hills and mountains, that are covered in clouds.
